Burpengary East, new estates by the bay
Most of Burpengary East was built recently, so the housing is modern brick on compact blocks with PVC drains, tempering valves and often a gas or heat pump hot water unit rather than an old electric tank. Some rural and undeveloped land remains, and Deception Bay Conservation Park takes up the south-east corner.
The suburb is low and wet at its edges: the Caboolture River forms the north-eastern boundary, Burpengary Creek flows through the middle to the bay, and Little Burpengary Creek marks the south. Stormwater has to get away quickly here, and lines that were never cleared of builder's debris are the ones that fail in the first big storm.
