Blocked Downpipe Caboolture
A blocked downpipe looks harmless from the ground, but the water it should carry away ends up over the gutter edge and against the house. How we clear a downpipe

Why downpipes block in Caboolture
Leaves and seed pods wash off the roof and into the gutter until the downpipe opening seals over. Blocks with mature trees, and older streets with established gums and camphor laurels, see it most. Nesting birds and possums use an open downpipe too.
The other common site is the bottom of the pipe, where it joins the underground stormwater line. Silt and compacted leaves settle there for years, and tree roots find the joint. A downpipe blocked at the base looks fine from above and still backs up.
Older downpipes can crack or sag internally as well, which restricts flow with no visible blockage. The camera is the only way to see that.
Can I clear it myself?
A garden hose or a drain rod will often shift loose debris near the top of the pipe, and that is worth trying. Beyond that point the risks change: forcing rods into a downpipe can compact the blockage or crack an older pipe, and the underground connection needs a jetter.
If a flush from the hose does not clear it, stop there. The repair for a cracked pipe costs far more than the clear.

Questions answered
Why does water pour over the gutter in one spot?
The downpipe nearest that spot is blocked, or the gutter outlet feeding it is. Water backs up along the gutter and spills at the lowest point.
Water comes out of the bottom of the downpipe in rain. What is wrong?
The underground connection beneath it is blocked, so water rises back out of the base. The line has to be cleared from below with a jetter.
