What the job involves
The scope depends on the distance of the run, the route the pipe takes through walls, under floors or along external surfaces, and whether the existing supply can carry another appliance. We assess that before quoting and tell you if the meter or regulator needs upgrading first.
The pipe is run to AS/NZS 5601, the outlet is fitted with the right orientation and clearance for the appliance, the appliance is connected and commissioned if it is on site, and the whole installation is pressure tested. A certificate of compliance is issued on completion.

Queensland licensing
In Queensland, installing, connecting, modifying or disconnecting gas pipework and appliances is licensed gas work. It cannot legally be done by a homeowner or a general handyman, and work that is not done under licence is not certifiable or insurable. Every gas installation is pressure tested and certified on completion, and the certificate is part of the job.

Tell us the appliance or the fault. If you smell gas, turn it off at the meter or bottle, open the windows and call from outside.

Assess the supply
The gas fitter checks whether the line can carry the new appliance, or tests the system to find the leak.

You get the price before pipe is run or a fitting is replaced.

Test, certify, hand over
The installation is pressure tested and a certificate of compliance is issued for gas work in Queensland. You are shown the isolation valve before we leave.
Questions answered
How much does a gas point cost?
It depends on the length and route of the run and whether an appliance is connected at the same time. The job is priced after the assessment and before any work starts.
Can you add a gas point if the supply is LPG?
Yes. The pipework is the same; the regulator and the appliance jets are matched to LPG.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A certificate of compliance is issued for gas installation work in Queensland and you should keep it for insurance and any future sale.
Can the existing meter run another appliance?
Often, but not always. A large continuous flow hot water unit or a commercial cookline can exceed the meter's capacity. We check that first.
